R & D
Sustainable business solutions and emerging environmental policy are key drivers of Deosan's research and development strategy.Eco-Friendly Plant Wash Systems
Significant R&D investment has been made into the development of our organic and energy efficient acid
detergent range.
The 2005 launch of SUPERNOVA, our leading acid detergent, heralded the arrival of a new way of thinking in dairy hygiene product formulation and application.
Supernova is the first organic acid detergent in New Zealand to have an NZFSA-approved 1ml (per litre) use rate in both hot and cold water and approval to use an alternate hot wash cleaning programme. In addition to reducing dairy farmers' energy consumption, SUPERNOVA has an organic formulation that is unique to the New Zealand and global acid detergent market.
Based on the success and growth of SUPERNOVA, Deosan is now working on the next generation organic detergent with key R&D partners. This fully integrated eco-friendly plant washing system project will focus on:
• Improving energy and natural resource efficiencies by further reducing hot water consumption and the volume of water required for cleaning in the dairy shed
• Reducing toxicity and improving biodegradability of dairy plant wastewater through enhanced product formulations of organic acid detergents
Key R&D partners are:
Milfos - Innovation Waikato
Dairy Technology Services (DTS) - Landcare Research

Organic Bloat Treatment Product
Research and product development is underway for a bloat treatment product that does not include the use of NPE's in the formulation. NPE's have been banned in the EU and are currently under review by the New Zealand ACVM group.
Deosan is the only company to date that has initiated trials with Dexcel on a non-NPE bloat formulation with improved biodegradability properties.
